Urbanization has gradually eroded people’s ability to be self-reliant. When natural disasters hit, we find ourselves in the situation without clean water or food for survival. Even if you are someone who is conscious about storing foods or drinks for emergency need, the amount of food one can store in a city dwelling is very limited. Many people who are lucky enough to be able to live in the suburb with a house and a piece of land do not try to make optimal use of their land and resources to be self-reliant just because they do not have to in normal condition. They tell themselves: Why bother to grow my own food when I can just buy all the food I need in the nearby grocery store? When natural disasters hit, they are just unprepared as the city dwellers. Rescuers might never reach you early enough to save you. In addition, the food produced by commercial farmers nowadays are usually heavily laced with chemicals which can endangered our health.
The main purpose of this platform is to share ideas to become more self-reliant. Human beings have the mental power and ingenuity to explore and create new ways to survive. We must think outside of the box and not let traditional doctrine control our ability to turn possibility into reality. It is a survival game.
